Sorry for the delay in posts. Lazy, busy, etc. Still finalizing plans for my trip to Laos next month. Laos apparently is riddled with many caves, which certianly caught my attention. There is something so commpelling about a caves. I always expect to find hidden treasure or a secret passage to the center of the earth when I enter one of them.
I don’t think any of the caves in Vang Vieng contain any of the above, which may be for the best. The caves do often have statues of the Buddha and rivers running through them. Good enough for me! Save the lost dinosaurs for another traveler!
My buddy and I plan to visit Tham Chang cave which is just outside of Vang Vieng. Haven’t decided if we will go as part of a tour or wander over there in our own. In any case, tubing through a cave and finding the Buddha sounds perfect for a summer vacation.
I hope to do a bit of swimming while I am there and it seems Tham Phu Kham cave and its accompanying lagoon will do the job!
As always, Wikitravel is a good source of information for the happy wanderer.
Next month, I will pics of me in those caves! Promise!
